"Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God" is a video game created by Compile Heart for the PlayStation Vita. This game is a modern adaptation of the original Madou Monogatari, which was initially released back in 1989. The announcement for Sorcery Saga came in December 2012, followed by its release in Japan on March 28, 2013, North America on December 10, 2013, through Aksys Games, and Europe on February 21, 2014, via Rising Star Games. Later, a Microsoft Windows version was produced and published by Ghostlight, hitting the market on June 4, 2018.


In Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God, players embark on a dungeon-crawling adventure within a vast and diverse world containing various randomly generated dungeons. Additionally, the game includes several cities with unique events to explore. Those who pre-ordered the game received a "bikini download code." Aksys offered both a standalone version of the game and a limited edition package called the "Hot and Spicy, Everything Nicey Limited Edition" in North America. This special edition included a specially designed bib, plastic spoon, and plate.

Critical reception of the game varied among reviewers. Bradley Hale from Hardcore Gamer gave it a 4/5 rating, describing it as "undoubtedly one of the most traditional roguelikes in recent memory." Wesley Ruscher of Destructoid awarded Sorcery Saga a 6/10, noting that it may not be the best game but is enjoyable, especially for fans of the genre.

Meghan Sullivan from IGN rated the game 7.5/10, highlighting its enjoyable story and characters despite frustrating moments caused by roguelike elements and minor glitches. She recommended it as a good entry point for those new to the genre.
